Tomatoes are one of the easiest plants to grow in containers and even if the only space you have is a 12 inch square on your front porch, you have adequate room for a tomato container garden. When choosing tomato plants for your containers, pick strong, stocky plants to transplant into the containers. Location the tomato plants in the container, three or 4 per container with between 3 to 4 inches in between plants. Water the container thoroughly, making sure the soil is soaked all the way down to the roots and below of the tomato plant. Water the containers more often than a standard garden due to the fact that container gardens will dry out more easily.
